The British Museum: Collection Database
A searchable database of nearly two million objects from the museum's collection, including "objects covering the material and visual cultures of Japan, Korea, China, Central Asia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, South and South-East Asia, and dating from the Asian Neolithic period (around 4,000 BC) to the present day, as well as the Sir Percival David Collection of Chinese ceramics."

Digital South Asia Library
This "global collaborative effort to make important and rare resources available to the international community" is a comprehensive library of digital resources on South Asia. Resources include images, maps, statistics, references, and indices, among others.

Huntington Archive of Buddhist and Related Art: Digital Database Collection
"Funded by a National Endowment of the Humanities Preservation and Access Grant, this digital collection includes approximately 30,000 black and white photographs of art and architecture throughout Asia. This body of material represents invaluable photographic field documentation conducted by John C. and Susan L. Huntington from 1969-1984, and the countries included in this collection are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Myanmar (Burma) Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Thailand."

Jacques-Edouard Berger Foundation: World Art Treasures Slide Library
Find China, Japan, India, and Nepal under Asia. Most of the images in these sections do not have descriptive or explanatory text, but this resource remains useful mainly for the breadth of its image collection, which is particularly strong in architecture and archaeology.

Oxford Art Online
A reference "gateway" that gives users access to content from The Dictionary of Art (1996, 34 vols.), The Oxford Companion to Western Art (2001), the Concise Dictionary of Art Terms, and Oxford's Encyclopedia of Aesthetics. Virtual Collection of Masterpieces, Asia Europe Museum Network
This website features a large collection of "masterpieces" selected by more than 50 participating museums in the Asia Europe Museum Network. Objects from East, South, and Southeast Asia are well represented in this collection, with more than 200 objects from China currently featured. All images enlarge, and all objects have excellent descriptions.
